Sudip Chakroborthy
Sudip Chakroborthy is a theatre practitioner and scholar with extensive training in South Asian traditional performance culture, encompassing both performance and direction. With a prolific career spanning numerous theatre productions, workshops, seminars, conferences, and festivals, his work has garnered international recognition. His theatre direction, designs and lectures have been showcased on esteemed stages across Bangladesh, India, Bhutan, South Korea, Iran, France, England, Scotland, Wales, the United States, and Canada.
Dr Chakroborthy holds a PhD from Goldsmiths, University of London (2021) and currently serves as a faculty member in the Department of Theatre and Performance Studies at the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh.

The iconic theatre space in Manchester holds a cherished place in my heart. It is where I began my journey into international theatre exhibitions, workshops, and discussions in 2004, and I went on to take part in four memorable festivals – 2004, 2006, 2010, and 2014, titled 'Contacting the World'. The energy of those festivals, the incredible work I witnessed, and the connections I made with fellow artists and audiences have left a lasting impact. Contact is not just a venue; it is a hub of creativity and inspiration that has significantly shaped my artistic path, nurturing growth and guiding my approach to exploring themes of migration, memory, and ecology in my work today.

The play is written by Selim Al Deen was produced by TheatrEX Bangladesh, and supported by the British Council in 2023.
BRICK LANE 78

Charting the lives of three members of Glasgow’s Bangladeshi community, from 1971 and the War of Independence of Bangladesh to the present day, MEMORi presents previously untold stories of escape, settlement and integration, underlining the importance of cross-cultural understanding. Dokkhina Sundari
